About genealogical science

Genealogy is a very nice but also very demanding and time-consuming pastime. One certainly needs a lot of both time and patience to ponder for hours -and sometimes for days- over old and almost unreadable handwritings, church register and such.

The search and transliteration of any old documents seldom gets one to a final result. At best, and if one's lucky enough, it will close various gaps or leads you to some other …and some more…and some more documents to look for. As there will always be some more that has to be looked into, a final result will seldom be achieved. And because of that, I will keep on trying to do my best, to find out more about the Deipenau family, their place in history and how close they are connected to the medieval and noble house of the Counts of Depenau of Lower-Saxony.
